Kate King Vintage

There is something about objects with history that I love. The smell of an old book, a scratched wood floor, a dress rejected to a second hand shop. I love the idea of restoration- of taking something rejected and making it beautiful again. I love the restoration of people and thought and of course, clothing. When I find an old dress I can almost feel the woman that wore it, if she was excited about it, if she wore it on a first date or just shoved it in the back of her closet. So now I get to bring it home with me and fix it; shorten it; bring it in and up and change it slightly. It turns into a piece of art, something unique and one of a kind. I have been collecting and wearing vintage pieces for a few years now- and I finally put up an online store http://www.kateking.etsy.com. This week I shipped out two of my dresses and already got feedback.

Lovely Maya purchased a Hawaiian print dress that I altered into a mini- and is rocking it.

This means a lot to me- my first dress, and the first pictures of someone wearing it. It seems like an incredible and wondrous thing that this dress was in my hands last week and is now in hers.

Also, this is going to sound weird but...when I describe the type of woman I wish I looked like...I am describing Maya. No lie.  My friends know this, and now all of you do as well. So I am especially thrilled to have my dress on her.
